The dust from 21.1 has settled and scores have been verified (or removed) and now we have some fun facts to look at regarding how well everyone did with their wall walks.
First, as you have seen on Instagram:
Over 93,000 individual female athletes (not including masters or teens) signed up for the 2021 Open and only a total of 408 women were able to complete 21.1 under the 15:00 cap.
Meanwhile a total of 1039 total individual men were able to complete it, although we do have to note that over 116,000 men were registered.
The top overall female Andrea Solberg (164cm / 5’5) and top overall male Felipe Costa (169cm / 5’7) are only 5cm apart in height.
Only 1 woman (Solberg) was able to finish under 11:00 while only 2 men (Costa, Wheeler) were able to
4 Norwegian women finished in the top 20 worldwide (that’s 20%)
(Solberg 1st, Garnes 12th, Finstad 15th, Holte 19th)
3 Koreans (2 women, 1 man) finished in the top 50 worldwide
Only 8 American men finished in the top 20 worldwide
All 3 Panchik brothers finished in the top 35 worldwide
Samuel Kwant (last year’s silver medalist) finished 689th
