At the most recent Crossfit Games there were 2 events that really determined which men and which women were the strongest compared to their competitors.
First there was the Crossfit Total where each athlete found their max back squat, shoulder press, and deadlift.
And there was also the Snatch Speed Ladder where the weights started heavy and got heavier, while you were snatching for time.
But what we were curious about, and thus was calculated below, was who were the strongest pound-for-pound athletes at the Games when you compared the top 5 men vs the top 5 women.
Pound-for-Pound Strength: How much weight someone can lift relative to their bodyweight.
In order to calculate this pound-for-pound (PFP) strength we used the Wilks Calculator which is used by Powerlifters worldwide to determine PFP.
For those of you wondering about why we didn’t use the Sinclair Calculator, it is because that is more focused on olympic weightlifting and we will be looking at the slow powerlifts in the Crossfit Total.
The Wilks Coefficient or Wilks Formula is a coefficient that can be used to measure the strength of a powerlifter against other powerlifters despite the different weights of the lifters.
The more Wilks Points (WP) per lift, the better.
