Last week we wrote a post where we chose Cole Sager as one of our favorites to win the 2020 Wodapalooza competition even though he was underdog.
Well, he ended up in a tie with Patrick Vellner at 714 points and unfortunately lost the tie break awarding him the silver instead of the gold.
Although Sager is a Crossfit Games veteran he is still somehow underrated. Maybe people forget just how consistent he has been.
Let’s take a look at just how consistent he has been throughout the 3 Sanctionals he has competed in thus far.
Starting in 2019…
2019 Rogue Invitational
- Event 1: 1st
- Event 2: 8th
- Event 3: 3rd
- Event 4: 3rd
- Event 5: 6th
- Event 6: 3rd
- Event 7: 6th
- Event 8: 11th
Thats four top 5 finishes and an event win at the most competitive Crossfit sanctioned event in 2019, with only one finish outside the top 10. He ultimately finished in 3rd.

2019 Fittest In Cape Town
- Event 1: 6th
- Event 2: 14th
- Event 3: 9th
- Event 4: 5th
- Event 5: 2nd
- Event 6: 2nd
- Event 7: 4th
- Event 8: 6th
- Event 9: 7th
- Event 10: 1st
Again half of his event finishes were in the top 5 along once more with 1 event win and 1 finish outside the top 10. He ultimately finished in 2nd only 18 points behind first place Sean Sweeney.

2020 Wodapalooza
- Event 1: 3rd
- Event 2: 4th
- Event 3: 8th
- Event 4: 4th
- Event 5: 3rd
- Event 6: 2nd
- Event 7: 7th
- Event 8: 19th
- Event 9: 2nd
A total of 6 out of 8 event finishes inside the top 5 and only one finish outside the top 10 which happened to cost him the tie break against Vellner.
Cole Sager is definitely trending in an upward direction and this is a phenomenal start to his 2020 season.
Although it shouldn’t be he is likely to surprise a lot of people in the coming months.
