All CrossFit Games Russian Athletes in 2023

This year there has been a lot of intrigue online about Russian athletes at the CrossFit Games, so we decided to put together a list of all Russian athletes who will actually be competing this year.

As is common with other sports, these athletes are unable to represent the Russian Federation and must instead compete with no flag.

In total there are only 6 Russian athletes competing at the 2023 Games (2 individual men and 1 team with 4 members).

Let’s begin with the most well known of the bunch:

Roman Khrennikov

28 year old Roman Khrennikov is best known for finishing 2nd overall at the 2022 CrossFit Games, only 27 points behind champion Justin Medeiros.

He had 10 event finishes inside the top 10 and 2 event wins.

Khrennikov has qualified for the CrossFit Games 4x, but was only able to actually participate for the first time this past year now that he has officially received an American visa.

Khrennikov currently lives in Cookeville, Tennessee with his wife and kid, and he trains at the famous CrossFit Mayhem where he is coached by 4x CrossFit Games champion Rich Froning.

Arthur Semenov

30 year old Arthur Semenov is making his 2nd straight appearance at the CrossFit Games, coming off a 1st place finish at this year’s Asia Semifinal.

Semenov didn’t have a great showing at last year’s Games as he finished 39th overall and had 10 straight event finishes in 33rd or worse to kick off his rookie debut.

He will absolutely be looking to make a large improvement this year, and hopefully he will get some help from the programming.

Semenov has large numbers in the snatch and clean and jerk, meaning he could score his first top 10 finish at the Games if a max lift event appears.

CrossFit Fly High Kolesnikov Team

Athletes on the team include:

CrossFit Fly High Kolesnikov Team is also making their second straight appearance at the CrossFit Games. Coming off of a 35th place finish last year they need to make many improvements if they want to be competitive.

At the recent Asia Semifinal they dominated with 4 straight event wins to kick off the competition and ultimately ended up winning it all by 65 total points.

With a year of experience at the Games under their belt let’s see what they can do this year.
