Although running has yet to have been introduced in the Open it has remained an integral part of Crossfit Games programming.

To truly test the fittest on Earth running must be included in both longer and shorter distances and the Games has consistently done just that.

Below is the total number of running miles programmed at the Crossfit Games in the past 5 years, followed by a breakdown of each running event each year.

Tested subjects who used a weighted vest during every training session had a lower 2 mmol lactate threshold, improved running time to exhaustionimproved vertical velocity when running up stairs and an increased VO2 during submaximal running after the added load period.
